Updated Covid-19 Cleaning Procedures | Book Nola

Published June 10th, 2020 by Book NOLA

Per CDC guidelines, and in response to Covid 19: Book Nola has updated our cleaning procedures to reduce your possibility of contracting Covid 19 and ensure that our guest accommodations meet rigorous standards of hygiene and cleanliness.

New Housekeeping Employee Guidelines

Before beginning to clean and disinfect Book Nola rentals or launder towels and linens, new staff members must familiarize themselves with the following employee guidelines:

  • All Book Nola cleaning team members must read and demonstrate their understanding of the most recent CDC guidelines for handwashing, face covering, and social distancing to reduce the potential for incidental transmission of Covid both at home and at work.

  • We expect our housekeeping staff to review and follow our comprehensive checklist for cleaning and sanitizing each room of our vacation rentals.

General Covid-19 Cleaning Procedures

Book Nola’s highly trained cleaning staff adheres to the following rules and procedures when performing general cleaning of our vacation homes:

  • Before entering the home, cleaning staff members must thoroughly wash their hands with soap and water for at least 30 seconds and apply a hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol before putting on a fresh pair of disposable gloves.

  • Staff members must always use a new pair of disposable gloves for each rental and each phase of the cleaning process.

  • Our housekeepers must use one set of gloves to remove dirty linens and trash, and they must change to a new set of gloves before handling clean linens.

  • To avoid contamination, the housekeeping staff should remove all trash from the premises before beginning the cleaning and disinfecting process.

  • House cleaners must thoroughly disinfect all surfaces before wiping them down.

  • Book Nola expects our housekeeping staff to pay special attention to cleaning and sanitizing frequently touched surfaces, such as tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, faucets, remotes, etc.

Disinfecting Our Vacation Rentals

When disinfecting our vacation homes, Book Nola staff should always:

  • Use high-quality bleach and alcohol solutions conforming to CDC guidelines.

  • Allow all surfaces to air dry so that the disinfectant kills as many pathogens as possible.

Procedures for Laundering Linens and Towels

All of our linens and towels are laundered off-site at a laundry facility using the warmest water setting recommended by the manufacturer. We only use dye-free and hypoallergenic laundry products, such as Wool Dryer Balls and ALL Free & Clear Detergent.

Book Nola expects cleaners to adhere to the following procedures while laundering:

  • Employees must disinfect couches and all soft surfaces, such as carpets, rugs, and drapes, with an EPA-registered household disinfectant that meets CDC guidelines.

  • Laundry staff must wear a different pair of disposable gloves when handling dirty and clean laundry.

  • Book Nola laundry employees must keep dirty linens and towels separate from clean ones.

  • Laundry staff must use the highest washing and drying temperatures possible for linens and towels.

As the Covid crisis continues to evolve, Book Nola will publish updated operating procedures for our cleaning team to protect the safety of our clients and employees.
